Yet it's showing (with this ABC-Paramount release #) on this regional chart from September of 1960, and numerically it does fit into a September release date on the label....
My guess is the label issued it as a follow-up to Georgia, it fizzled, then they followed it up quickly with Ruby, which became a minor hit, and then put more promotion back into this record.Comment by Anabella:
Reviewed in the January 9, 1961 [not 1960] edition of Billboard in their "Reviews of This Weeks Singles" section. Listed as a "Pick Hit".
By February 6, 1961, it's shown amongst the "Top Market Breakouts", doing very well in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Boston, and San Francisco.
Concerning a suggested date of August 1960 in the corrections queue, just my opinion, but I doubt very much that Billboard slept-on this record for 5 months.
