On the labels, that is. But we were talking about sleeve designs on that entry for a 1960 Pat Boone EP which was being referred to...

Sorry but that's daft. The box log is in exclusive use by November 1960. I'm trying to find the month of change not the year!

I must pay more attention too. I forgot the label change itself. Indeed it was much later after I had lost interest in what London was issuing in the late 60s.

Any more from the assembled intelligensia? Surely the famous Mr. McKee MUST know when the logo change was? Probably more obvious on the LP sleeves.

Yep, I got that. But there is such a long time between these releases. Looking at the Decca ones the logo seems to change around May/June time but I am assuming there is an "official" date somewhere for Decca group records.

Sorry, don't know. I had lots of London LPs before I left England but never took any notice of the change.

I have an LP by Louis Prima & Keeley Smith issued in 1960. The number is HAD2243 and is listed in the June 1960 New Records. This has a box logo on the front cover and the old logo on the back. The date on the cover is 08/60.

That seems about right. I would think June/July 1960. However, I have noticed that it is usually the front cover that retains the old logo on a repressing and the back has the new one - presumably something to do with colour and b&w printing changes.

Hey, this Forum seems to have gone quiet. Have you all got lives again? There must be more musings on the London label.

Has anyone got the Dave Baby Cortez London EP that I once saw in a Leeds market in 1965 and had gone when I came back with the money?

Anyone have an answer to my query (see quote #16)?

Why were MATRIX NUMBERS on labels initially printed upside down?

I appreciate this does not exclusively relate to the London label, but I was sure one of my fellow 45catters would have the answer.

H'mmm. All is quiet. My only recent excitement is the man at the LOROS Charity Shop bringing in the Howling Wolf London EP for me to touch. Wonderful.

Anyone still out there?

See my recent purchase of London American singles
under the What 45(s) Did You Buy Today Forum.

Trust this London fix will keep you going for a little while.

Sorry there's not to many early London singles for you to drool over.

Cheers

:read: Is there anyone who can put me out of my misery with a reply,
good, bad or otherwise, thanks.

To avoid confusion with the catalogue numbers.
