Great stuff! Pity Dr. Hook doesn't get to take a call. Blondie is already mentioned twice, but Rupert Holmes, now that's a bit of a borderline case, we hear him speak and I love the musical DTMF so let's put that in

Thanks BDM - we've already got the UK issue of 'Joannie' and that's linked to the USA release!

Can we include LP tracks? 'Sacked' by the Keef Hartley Band, the first track on Halfbreed. Released after Keef was sacked from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers if I remember rightly. Sadly my copy has been long sold but I will get another one, one day.............along with The Wizard by Marc Bolan, Slade's Shape of Things To Come demo, Who Did It, Steel Mill LP, Sgt Pepper mono, The Beatles, The Who's Kids Are All Right, La La La Lies, Led Zep 1, Shadows and Reflections demo, Let It Bleed etc etc.............................

Following on from Sacked how about a list of songs about musicians falling out.It would also incude Six Years On The Road by Commander Cody and How Long by Ace.

That list would have to include "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)" .

This is a novelty record about a progressively more drunk guy calling Ralph Emery, a famous country DJ in the US, to ask why he hasn't played his record on the radio. "It's on Lardbucket Records. I sent ya five hundred copies. D'ya sell 'em, ya SOB? Hello? Hello? Why you rotten ..." Every time he gets hung up on, he opens another beer and calls again, more belligerent than the last time. I realize that doesn't sound too amusing now, but it was funny in 1972.

Hello D.J. was a real gem. Drunks loved this one a lot, and many an overnight US Country DJ got tired of this one in a hurry. A great record even if got burned out quickly. Bobby Bare wrote this song. I saw a ex station LP of this which specifically said "NO PLAY, USE 45!"

I confess I don't know this one, having spotted it while entering diognes' donated data, but with a title like this it must surely be a candidate:

That's a very spirited instrumental, and we get to hear the phone call :-)

Thanks again guys. I'm only including tracks where you get to hear some part of the telephone call, of which the Jimmy Norman is a prime example, whereas on the Jimmy Little track He never answers ;-)
Andy, thanks yes, it's already in there under a different release
