People may mock Max but he was relevant in his time and that was important.

From the BBC website.

Songwriter Hal David dies at 91

Hal David co-wrote a string of hits for Dionne Warwick
US songwriter Hal David, who wrote dozens of hits with collaborator Burt Bacharach, has died at the age of 91.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers said he had died in Los Angeles from complications from a stroke.

He had a lengthy career writing lyrics to go along with Bacharach's tunes.

The pair wrote a string of hits for Dionne Warwick, including Walk On By, and co-wrote songs for films including Alfie and Casino Royale.

Extremely sad to hear :(
R.I.P Hal x

I spotted a Lady Ga Ga singing toothbrush in the chemists last week. My heart sank to it's nearly lowest level, I think.

A belated R.I.P. to Mel Stuart, who directed many notable films, and in particular should be mentioned here for giving us Wattstax.

The Andy Williams Show was on air in the UK and included a few guests we may not have seen otherwise including The Temptations , Tony Joe White and Caudine Longet. Also the first showing of The Osmonds so we were well warned. He made some good singles too.

Not to mention Captain Weird "You're weird Andy" and The Bear - "How about some milk and cookies?"

This is so weird. Only this afternoon I checked out the song Afternoon Delight on Youtube. It must have been recorded for the ANDY WILLIAMS show, as you see Andy at the beginning of the clip. My first thoughts were: "Is he still alive?" Now I've just heard the news of his passing. RIP, Andy. Here's the clip, I hope the link works

Along with Batman, Andy Williams was the best thing to watch on television in my early years.

The passing of Andy Williams is I hate to say, one of the major upsets of the year and I know a great many are saddened tonight since he was one of very few who was able to appeal to several generations. It's easy to forget now, but his TV shows were also hugely popular here in the UK. He must be one of the oldest acts to have appeared on Top Of The Pops since he last appeared on that about 12 years ago.

I was just browsing the Cadence label the day before he died. He bought and owned that label (later called Barnaby).

The Wikipedia entry for Big Jim Sullivan states that he died today. I haven't found anything on the web to verify this, is anyone here able to confirm this?
