OK

We await someone for the UK to do the 'Song For Europe' list , though did any of the runner up song versions actually make it to any kind of vinal recording ? In the 1960s/70s a singer/group was chosen and half a dozen songwriting teams put forward there choice for the singer to sing different one weekly then all in one week I think, BBC then had a vote (By Postcard ? ), Later changed to different artists and songs competing in one show.

I understand that Eurovision are trying to get as many old TV clips of performances for their website and archive.

I think for What the UK call Eurovison Song Contest other countries have called Eurovision Grand Prix , or similar.

While on the subject does anyone remember Katie Boyle on Radio 2 Friday Nights I think 'Pop over Europe' where a number of radio broadcasters would present their nation's latest releases - bit like Juke Box Jury for radio. Think it might also have been broadcast on World Service or British Forces Broadcasting.

I'm giving up this list. Anyone want to take it over or start a new one?

I know zilch about Eurovision.

Lists up for grabs

Seen this very late, but there was a show called "European pop jury" where they played current hits from around 10 countries and then would announce how many points it got after each song. I recall Queen won it one week, with either "Back chat" or "Body language" and Peter Kent's "Take a ride on the peace train" won it several time running for Germany.

In my opinion "Ding A Dong" is the only Eurovision song that should ever have been written. No other Eurovision songs before or since have ever been able to approach its Power and Glory. This list should only have one song in it - and that is "Ding A Dong". I'm sure that I am not alone in thinking this.

Oi Edwyn!

Well, other killer songs I like are ..

Mocedades - Eres Tu
Sandra Kim - J'aime La Vie
Johnny Logan - Hold Me Now
Toto Cutugno - Insieme 1992
Herry's - Digge Loo, Diggy Lee

Another song wich reminds me of a pure Eurovision Songfestival song is from "Brotherhood Of Man - United We Stand" .. don't know if it was on a Eurovision song contest though :erk:

no success for the netherlands this time, but fairly close. Perhaps next year if your entrant is a lady who has a moustache you will fare better. :)
