I was very saddened to hear of her death today. I never had a chance to listen to much of her music but realised that she was a massive talent. R.I.P.

R.I.P. Johnny Hoes, aged 94 died 23 july 2011. Johnny was well known in Holland as a performer, owner of the record company Telstar and a writer of songs for other artists (over 5000 songs)
His best known record was in 1961: Och was ik maar bij moeder thuis gebleven (translated: I wish i'll stayed at home with my mama) This record sold more than 450.000 pieces, which is still today the highest selling single in the Netherlands.

R.I.P. Jerry Leiber. Just spotted his name listed on the Dead Rock Stars site. Most sad... he and Mike Stoller wrote and produced so many legendary records - who could ever forget their work with The Coasters? To name just one act...

I rather liked Leiber and Stoller's album they cut with Peggy Lee on A+M in the 70's - "Mirrors" - a rather eccentric album and one most have never seem to have heard of.

Nickolas Ashford like Jerry Leiber wrote some fine stuff - another loss for all.

Gary from 2000 DS, on 4th August. Car accident in Jamaica that took not only him but also three others including his daughter.

"Gary was the founder of Scrap Records and 2000DS (aka 2000 Dirty Squatters), known for their uncompromising gritty, urban, hardcore punk sound. He was an unstoppable soldier and worked relentlessly in the support of all kinds of underground music."

John Cann or DuCann has died this 22nd Sept. He had a heart attack. He was a long time resident of Norwich and made great records with Attack, Andromeda Atomic Rooster, and Hard Stuff.
