Just to confuse abit more,.... I have seen a New Zealand pressing of this EP, with a New Zealand printed sleeve,..... maybe they started making them themselves after the initial UK Export batch?.

The UK guide book lists the title as "Sweet Georgia Brown", its listed as "Tommy" on the rear of a promotional picture card i have from 1959, along with his other UK releases to that date, so it looks like it was INTENDED to be released in the UK,........ my guess is, that it was probably withdrawn from the UK market, in order to promote and press the "Tommy the Toreador" EP, as this was probably doing quite well due to the film, and seems to have sold by the Truck load,....... maybe then, they decided to Export this EP instead?, i know it was released in Australia. I have only ever seen the UK pressing of this EP twice, & my copy has a "Sample not for sale" sticker on one label, as if it was just a promo for a music critic or someone like that?. Its also the only Tommy Steele EP, not shown on the cover of the See For Miles records "Tommy Steele EP collection", nor are there any tracks from it on that release. Its a very rare record. (I`ve just noticed that i`ve repeated myself abit from an earlier comment, DOH!) :D

I dont think Joe Meek was involved in this particular recording, BUT, its such an intricate little web he left of Demo recordings, and un-released stuff, who knows for sure?. My reasoning is, that Joe had already left the label, after the Michael Cox single, and when he did, he took ALL his recordings, demos etc with him, even the artistes themselves in some cases!. Which is probably also why, the Carol Jones 45 was re-recorded by Barrington-Coupe with Johnny Keating, as Joe had taken his original version sung by Carol away with him, they then cancelled the record anyway. My reckoning is also, that Joe would not have let them use any of HIS work after he left, and that they in turn would not have leased anything from him after he had left them. There are several Demos & un-released recordings that Joe Meek made with female singers, that were not credited, which has led to speculation of WHO the Ladies were?. If i were to place a bet on it, i would be sure that Pat Reader went to 304 Holloway Road to record with Joe, as her Triumph disc, (her 1st as far as i`m aware?), did nothing, and like so many others at the time, she probably thought, or was told, that if you wanna get a chance of a hit, go see Joe Meek(????). Its likely, that the un-credited recordings were more than likely, Carol Jones, as she had recorded songs with Joe......... Yolandas voice is to obviously different for the tunes i`ve heard, the only other possibility, is Joy Adams?, but i`d never heard of anything she recorded solo without her brother??, all the others came to Triumph after Joe had left. Its strange that Joe didnt push the Carol Jones release to another company though??, or indeed anything else she `may` have recorded?. And just to finish this rather long winded assumption (apologies), its always possible that these `Unknown` Female singers, were other people entirely?. Unless any more usable tapes show up, with more info, and get released, its always going to be hard to say for sure.
