Correction to my last comment: Atlantic and Elektra pressings seem to have shifted to Germany in mid 1990. Warner Brothers singles continued to be pressed in England, interestingly.

Most WEA LP's were coming from Germany at this point, but they still continued having most singles manufactured in the UK until mid 1990, when the bulk started coming in from Germany. There seems to be a clear shift at this point, looking at the listingss on the site for Atlantic, Warner Bros and Elektra.

Of the examples above, the first silver label with vintage Atlantic logo is a Polygram pressing, while the green/orange one looks like it might be from CBS. The third one is a more tricky proposition, from an independent plant perhaps? WEA certainly used them in the past, there's another example at K11279

The tell tale sign of the German pressings are the copyright text in three languages, and the "45" triangle. They are also on much thinner vinyl, and seem much more prone to scratches, sadly...

The red and black label pressings were made at WEA Record Service, Alsdorf, Germany. My guess is they were imported to meet the high demand for the record.

Good point, Deltics - I've heard the story in relation to both records. However, every copy of UP 36348 that I have come across has been an EMI copy. If anybody out there has a variation from another plant, I'd be interested to see it :-)
