Yes, indeed. A side timing off by 1:00. Note on WDEF-AM green jacket, Don't believe the time quoted on the label. 2:45 correct timing, no intro, med tempo. This was issued as a stock single and on LP in true Stereo. Commonly chosen on later compilation albums due to that fact.

Simply put. The USA Federal Communications Commission is the rule makers of the USA radio airwaves. Profanity is largely frowned on during hours children will likely be listening. If a listener hears it unbleeped, and complains to the FCC, can cost the station thousands of dollars of fines if it happens. While the standards have relaxed somewhat, GD is over the acceptable line even now. Uncensored, this track would be "Disc Jockeys. Use 45 RPM only except for 12 midnight-5:00 AM in which case you may play the LP track, DJ please sign or initial" Even back then, hardly any station in the South would have risked playing this for fear of lynching or losing business. And I know how Nina Simone felt being outside of society being a special needs person then. And it was frustrating then too, and sometimes it is so today as well.

I own a promo 45 of this in Near Mint. What a soulful performance, the accompaniment is first class. Bordering on R&B/Soul in style, Punchy, powerful and short to the point. Essential if you love Spiritual singing or R&B.

A: Columbia Standard Level (CSL)
B: Columbia Standard Characteristic
Goal for CSL (Columbia Standard Level) was for disk jockeys to have one standard level setting on the console for all Columbia 45 RPM records. This eliminated the need for gain riding.

Does not look like correct typeface to me either. Yes, Savoy used the MGM pressing plant in Bloomfield, NJ. And began pressing 45 singles in 1950. Yes, I think this is a repro/boot.
