Art Neville

A: Arabian Love Call
B: What´s Going On
"What's Going On" was written by Mac Rebennack ("Dr. John").

This was Art Neville's third and final Specialty release, but he left behind a batch of tracks that eventually found their way to compilations. This is one of the best (by the way, it's not the Joe Barry song).

Smokey Johnson

A: It Ain't My Fault Pt. 1
B: It Ain't My Fault Pt. 2
Joseph "Smokey" Johnson, renowned New Orleans drummer, passed away in October 2015 at 78 after a lengthy illness. His composition "It Ain't My Fault," with its classic second-line rhythm, evolved into a brass band Mardi Gras standard. He played in Fats Domino's tour band for nearly 30 years.

Willie West

A: It's Been So Long
B: Said To Myself
See Dan Phillps' post for more. By the way, contrary to the label, West's given name is Millard Leon West.

Larry Williams

A: Bony Moronie
B: You Bug Me, Baby
My copy of the 45 is a repress but has the short version; if Specialty substituted the long version at some point, they forgot to change the label timing. By the way, the notes to the 1970's Specialty compilations were written by Barrett Hansen, M.A., better known as Dr. Demento.

Larry Williams

A: Dizzy, Miss Lizzy
B: Slow Down
The Beatles recorded "Dizzy, Miss Lizzy" and "Bad Boy" (658) on May 10, 1965 (Williams' 30th birthday). The royalties from these and other cover versions kept Williams in clover until his flamboyant lifestyle caught up with him.
