This is fascinating. Anyone know what it's about? The tracks are all culled from KPM Music library.

B1: Coronation Street
B2: Emergency - Ward 10
This is culled from an album "For Addicts Only" (ATL 4136) released on Summit in 1964. Owned by the notorious William Barrington-Coupe (see Wikipedia to find out more about this gentleman) Summmit wasn't exactly discriminating when it came to their releases. This EP has some of the better recordings from the LP, all of which sounds as if it had been recorded on a single microphone in a small room with a bunch of session men sight reading it all in one take and no rehearsals. Funnily enough, that seems to be exactly what happened. A while back I spoke to Colin Frechter about this and he recalled a tiny unventilated studio and a single mic with an old Brenell tape recorder. Not perhaps his finest achievement in what did, let's be fair, become a pretty illustrious recording career. But in spite of all that, there is a certain naive charm about these crude recordings....

Joyce Hatto, Piano, With The London Classic Ensemble

A: Concert Rondo In D, K.382, Part 1
B: Concert Rondo In D, K.382, Part 2
It might actually be genuine Joyce Hatto. Summit was owned by .... William Barrington-Coupe, Hatto's notorious husband who was responsible for all the fraudulent recordings in her name. Barrington-Coupe had already caused the demise of Saga at this point and was playing around with a highly dubious assortment of classical recordings that appeared on his labels. Conductors credited included Wilhelm Havagest and Homer Lott and the soprano Herda Wobble. In 1966, after what was at the time the most expensive Old Bailey trial, B-C was found guilty of Purchase Tax fraud and jailed.

Summit recordings are, ironically, collectables inasmuch as many of them are indescribably dire. Some are rumoured to have been taped from Eastern European radio broadcasts and edited to disguise their origins.

Sounds Orchestral

Lee Bates

B1: Why Don't You Write

Gordon Keith

B2: Look Ahead
This real curiosity has "First of a series" scratched in the dead wax on side 1. The publication date for the Sounds Orchestral track is erroneously given as 1962, and on both sides publishers credits include ASCAP or BMI.. I'm guessing the incorrect year of publication stems from the fact that the US issue of this disc had "(C) 1962 Cameo-Parkway Records" on the label simply because the printed blanks all contained that text and did so long after 1962. Careful analysis of the disc suggests it's been made from a needledrop probably of the original US pressings of the three tracks. I can't tell whether it's a bootleg or not, but as it was pressed by Lyntone, probably not.

Jan And Dean

A: Batman
B: Bucket "T"
Bought this dreadful piece of tat in the local record shop when it came out. Was really annoyed when I got it home because I thought I was buying the Batman theme. Sold the disc for half a crown to a pal......
