Jim MacLeod And His Band

A: Forty Shades Of Green
B: Come To Fiona's Wedding
Very interesting indeed. The final release on Piccadilly (Sounds Orchestral - Our Love Story) was printed on a pink label but inserted into a blue bag. (I remember buying it and being puzzled about the odd combination, especially as the blue bag carried the lower case 'pye'.) But Jim McLeod was always a tremendous seller in Scotland, so I presume the blue labels were re-pressings long after Piccadilly ceased to release new product. Curious, because I'd have expected them to reissue the disc as a Pye release with a Pye catalogue number (as they did with - for example - 'Cast Your Fate To The Wind') but clearly my expectations were unfounded! Jim's albums were, by the way, released on Golden Guinea; then reissued on Marble Arch; and then reissued on Lochshore.

The Dave Clark Five

A: That's What I Said
B: I Knew It All The Time
Like all of Dave Clark's records, this was made by Clark and the tapes leased on a short term contract to Pye. They opted to put them on the Piccadilly label, and the higher catalogue number is to reflect the fact this this was a special deal. The KPM acetate suggests that perhaps (and this is only a guess) the original was either recorded or mastered at KPM's studios at 21 Denmark Street.
