It's Love That Really Counts (In The Long Run)

...reviewed in Billboard 25-Aug-62 as a new release with this as the 'b' side, and described in the review as "flip is a lovely ballad handed a touching, soft reading by the girls".
see.......Billboard, 25 Aug 1962, page 25

Reposted again, as previous video was removed by er, you know......

.....respect, davie, I figured you'd be on the case.....
I know I got my UK copy of the 45, back in 1966, from a friend who didn't want it......my gain.

Scepter intended "It's Love" as the A-side but dj's thought different

Aug 25 - Billboard reviews the single
Sept. 1 - "Stop .." enters the BB bubbling under chart at # 109
Sept. 8 - "Stop .." enters Hot 100 - peaking at no. 36

"It's love" got some airplay, enough for it to be listed as "bubbling under" at the end of September, peaking at no. 102.

In retrospect "It's Love .." was just too far ahead of it's time,
it was too early for such a subtle record.

I've got the UK issue, SS 129, and now seeing this US version for the first time, I wonder why it was flipped for UK, or was it to do with the matrix #'s, 45KR-3057 for 'Stop The Music' and 45KR-3058 for 'It's Love That Really Counts'. Any ideas?

I always preferred this US A-side, personally, but then I have always been a big fan of Mr. Bacharach, and his writing, arranging and production skills.
It's a great pity that such a talented musician is so poor a singer, I am not denigrating him, but it's painful to hear him performing his greatest songs, and must be doubly frustrating for the man himself.

Two lovely sides - contrasting Bacharach's smoothness and McCoy's spikiness.
