JJ, you must be psychic!! (Got the Lottery numbers for this Friday, while you're at it?!!) I worked in Manchester in High Street and Oxford Road in the Sixties. Every lunchtime I would whizz round to check the 45's in Deansgate House, the 78 Record Exchange (Marsden Square, before they moved to Stockport much later) and .... guess where else? What memories to see your link! Many thanks.

You link to 'les recettes de mazel' - what a name for a 45 collector in the 60's! Mazel

Gilbert Bécaud wrote this charming little song, probably to display his captivation with La Bardot. And who is there who can fail to understand? (Eat your heart out Claudia Schiffer). ‘Croquemitoufle’ (as well as being a ’59 French film) is the name of a French cherry cake, the recipe for which is here.

I recall a review of Bardot’s ‘And God Created Woman’ (1956) in The Sunday Express, in which the reviewer swooned that he would ‘walk a mile in bare feet over broken glass to pick up one of her dropped aitches’.
