Was 1861 a hit in UK? EveryHit lists the top 40 for the month, but I don't think it includes all weekly top 40s.
A real classic among instrumentals that had the distinction of being the first single I ever bought when I started my record collection way back in March, 1964, a month before my 17th birthday. It cost me 6/8d (or 33 pence in today's money) and in 1964, you could buy three singles for £1. I still have it in its original sleeve and still in excellent condition all these many decades later.
