Pavilion was a National issue. The original recording was released locally on Century Records on an LP by the Northern California State Youth Choir. On the LP called "Let Us Go In The House Of The Lord". A DJ in California spun this track to extremely high response, the master was sold to Buddah Records and released on their Pavilion Label and became an International Hit. The rest was history!
The pic sleeve was issued with a promo only single issued c. 1977 to tie in with the "Oh Happy Day" film, same pairing of tracks as the Pavilion issue but it had a special OH-1
cat. number. Label design was like this one BDA 314
Now that I think of it I don't think I've ever seen the original pre-Buddah issue of "Oh Happy Day" - issued locally in Northern California on Pavilion.
