Johnny Kidd & The Pirates after a few flops, tried to update the sound & arrangement of their only no.1 hit, Shakin' All Over.
The Pirates on this disc were also different from the 1960 line up too.
The 1960 original feature Johnny Kidd-Vocals, Alan Caddy-Guitar, Brian Gregg-Bass, Clem Cattini-Drums with additional help on Lead Guitar by session man, Joe Moretti.
This 1965 re-recording/re-arrangement feature The Pirates line up of Johnny Kidd-Vocals, John Weider-Lead Guitar, Johnny Spence-Bass, Frank Farley-Drums & Vic Cooper-Organ.
Mick Green had left to join Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas, only to be followed the next year by Spence & Farley.
As mentioned '65 was added to the title on the released copies to differentiate it from the 1960 original recording so the public wouldn't think that they've already bought it some 5 years earlier & wouldn't buy it.
But H.M.V. failed to promote it & nobody bought it anyway.
I hope this info helps.

Mome, The Guess Who didnt chart in the uk with this song.
In fact I wouldnt be suprized to hear if It's My Pride outsold it by a long way....

I seem to prefer Kidd's original recording from 1960, although The Pirates version from 1978 is good as well. Here is this track

re-recorded for the Guess Who hit version, the JK redo is way short of the Guess Who version!

'HIT' as in USA hit & the UK copy sold but didn't chart

No, stock copies have title as "Shakin' All Over" only too, i.e. no "'65".

I believe that the standard release copies of this one were titled "Shakin' All Over '65." Not the 1960 recording, this one sounds very different
