| | Yes, Fruit De Mer is U.K, affiliated with Bracken records who are American. I guess when you buy the records the 'Add to cart' payment is made directly to Bracken for simpler accounting. Keith and Andy who run the label really go to town on promotion (check copies of Shindig and Record collector magazines) by the time they've spent out on the adverts and other costs it would be impossible to turn a profit on limited runs of 300. You therefore have to believe their claim of running a label for the love of.
Fruit De Mer only release cover version records, Bracken release self penned tunes by the artists. Cranium Pie are working on/recording two sides for Bracken as I type.
Thanks for the kind words :]

Peter Sundae will be able to confirm.

| | And an excellent "Madman Running Through The Fields", as well !
Though at the risk of losing the listing of this fine label... I'd thought Fruits was a US label (that's where I ordered my copies from) ?

| | Every time I see this record for sale out and about, I have a compulsive disorder to check the label for --Without 'Recorded during "live" world television transmission' text on A-side label.
Finally found one last week. Sadly I doubt this find has cured me of the affliction.

| | John Lennon had an odd relationship with Brian Epstein. On the one hand, John was basically a Scouse thug. On the other hand, he was an incredibly sensitive "artiste" who had a great deal of empathy for almost anyone. Ringo said, when asked "Who was the "nicest" Beatle?" (which is a stupid question) that John was the nicest - "when he could be" (which is a clever answer, and proves there is much more to Ringo than just being a loveable drumming nose). When Brian was looking for suggestions for the title of his autobiography, John suggested "Queer Jew". Brian ultimately decided, upon reflection, that this wasn't the best choice, and settled on "A Cellarful Of Noise" - which John took to calling "A Cellarful Of Boys". On the other hand (fnaar), according to Pete Shotton, who was John's best friend outside the Beatles during the 1960s, John confessed to him that he had let Brian, to use der term teknische "wank him off" during a shared holiday in Spain in 1963, out of compassion as much as anything else...Brian was in love with John, and, let's face it, it was never going to be reciprocated. There was also the time when Brian was in the Priory following another pill related breakdown, that John (alone of the others) sent him a huge bunch of flowers and a note stating that he loved him. To (finally) answer your question, there are those who say that what is being sung on the final choruses of Baby You're A Rich Man too is actually Baby You're A Rich Fag Jew. I'm not sure if that is actually the case (another reason, I feel, for the Beatles' on-going success is that the listener can often project anything they like onto their records. Take I Am The Walrus - "Smoke pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot"? Nah - "Everybody's Got One" and "Oompah, oompah.." or Strawberry Fields -"I buried Paul"? Nah again - "Cranberry sauce." But listen for yourself.

| | Hey, Solzhi (or anyone) - is it true that on "Baby You're A Rich Man" they surreptiously alter the lyric to make a derogatory remark about Eppy ?

| | 3 blind mice. Love love love. That is what the critics say. But I say - YOU write a fucking song as huge as this based on a nursery tune, and then you can criticise. I LOVE this song - yes, yes, I know all the arguments about how "naive" it is, etc. etc. but at the end of the argument - Johnny is right. If you've got "love" then all the other shite either won't happen, or else will be deeply regretted come the morning. The fade-out is also wonderful, and that bit where John and Paul sing She Loves You for what will prove to be the last time ever never fails to move me. If you don't agree - why are you even reading this? Fuck you. ("Love Love etc hahahah).
