The dancer was Teddy Green who was an actor/dancer. He was in a few of Cliff's movies

I LOVE this film. This and The Young Ones are easily his best. I particularly like the clip featured here, and the one featuring the Shadows playing Bongo Blues.

That chap on the left in the thumbnail also features in Serious Charge, Cliff's first film; though I don't know who he is and he doesn't have a speaking part. I believe he was hired for his dancing abilities

Crap film, crap sleeve photo and the songs aren't much better. I must have thought it was all right when I was 18!

 Belated answer to vj's question...

Its appearance on the singles chart was only on the NME Top 30. It entered on 16 Jan 1960, and its chart run was: 25, 18, 15, 14, 23, 30, 29, its last appearance being on 27 February.

The EP chart was launched at the same time as the Record Retailer singles chart, the following month. Despite selling enough copies to be #1 on the RR EP chart in March, Expresso Bongo's sales had declined so that it wasn't on the NME Top 30 by that stage.

So the answer is that it made no difference at all as chart eligibility rules were different, and sales had already peaked.

Does anyone know the chart run of this? Was it still climbing and would it have climbed higher if they hadn't made the separate EP chart? (This was the first #1 on the EP chart which was launched 12 Mar 1960)
