Roy Montrell was in great demand as a New Orleans session guitarist during the late 1950s and early 1960s. This record and "The Montrell"/"Mudd" on Minit (619) were the only two released under his name. He was also a founding member of A.F.O., the musicians' co-op label. While in Amsterdam with Fats Domino's band on a 1979 tour, he died from a drug overdose at 51. See also Dan Phillips' post.
